Heading to more temperate LATITUDES

Wednesday September 15th, 2010After completing one of the most important objectives of this voyage coming to North Cape Nordkapp, PAKEA BIZKAIA begins the return to Bilbao.

From 71 North to 43 North they must lose 28 degrees latitude, which makes this back home as much, or more difficult than the ascent. Can not forget that, as in the mountains, The success is not achieved when you summit, but when it has reached base camp. For PAKEA BIZKAIA the base camp is the port at Bilbao.
Once you they the Cape, the 35 knots of wind had prevented them from entering any of the ports that are close and have had to seek shelter in a fiord called Viekelselattu. It is one of the few who still have a glacier that almost reaches the water. Unfortunately, little by little the ice is disappearing and only remnants of what once was.
The weather forecast gives a couple of days to move towards home, but in two days a storm with strong winds from the south require them to wait in port until conditions improve.
