PREPARATIVOS PARA EL ASALTO A CABO NORTE

Friday September 10th, 2010Yesterday, on September 9, the PAKEA BIZKAIA arrived at the port of Tromso in what, if the weather permits, the last stop before reaching to North Cape. The crossing was quiet as they are under the influence of an anticyclone that accompany them, as expected, a couple of days before the weather gets worse over.

Tromso, with its 66,000 inhabitants, is the capital of northern Norway. Located some 2,000 km from the North Cape is the capital of trade throughout the North and one of the largest universities in Norway. In the Second World War was the nation’s capital for three weeks. Tromso has also been the starting point of several major expeditions to the Arctic such as Roald Amundsen in 1928.
This stop is to prepare the boat in the assault on North Cape. Fill water tanks to diesel, preparing and organizing the supply of the vessel and above all, make sure everything is in order and in good condition. If all goes well, they expect to cover the 150 miles that separate to the North Cape in 30-35 hours and then, start the decline and lessing latitude.
